Obtaining a Tardis

In the latest versions of the mod, the TardisTARDIS is obtained through finding it.

In the 1.14.4+ versions, TardisesTARDISes are no longer grown from a crafted TardisTARDIS Coral block. Instead, they can be found underground under Y level 64 (below y level 32 in 1.16.5) across all biomes in all dimensions except the Nether and End dimensions (Blacklisted dimensions can be configured via the TardisTARDIS Common config) . There is no spawn chance configured, but its spawn conditions are the following:

  • Must contain 2 vertically stacked blocks of air
  • These blocks must not be be able to see the sky (There must be a solid block above the two air blocks)

To detect broken Tardises,TARDISes, you can right click a Minecraft Bell for long distance searches, and narrow the search radius down with a Pocket Watch.

If ringing the bell produces an echoing "Cloister Bell" sound, it means a broken TardisTARDIS may be within range (3 chunk radius around the Bell). This is an indication of timeships responding to the bell as its sound mirrors its own Cloister Bell, which is often an indication of distress or impending danger.

To use the Pocket Watch to detect broken Tardises,TARDISes, simply hold the watch in either hand as you explore the world. You may notice that the watch hands will go haywire within 25 blocks of such space-time anomalies.

As an alternate way to find a broken timeship, an Artefact Map can be obtained from Storyteller villagers found in Observatory structures in villages, as one of their unlockable trades. This map will show the location of a nearby broken TARDIS or a crashed spaceship if they are in loaded chunks.

If there is no structure within loaded chunks, the map will not generate when you use the item. Try moving and using it again until you get one.

Interacting with a TardisTARDIS

As outlined in the Introduction, each TardisTARDIS will have a unique emotional personality and may exhibit different emotions when interacted with.

Initially, crashed TardisesTARDISes will be vulnerable and will be hesitant and fearful of any outsiders, much like a cornered or wounded creature. The exterior will produce sparks and will produce a pulsating, faint glow. Players or entities cannot enter the TardisTARDIS in any form at this stage.

The player will need to convince the TardisTARDIS to open for them in order to gain access. Most TardisesTARDISes are known for having a passion for exploration and adventure, so the player may want to appeal to these emotions.

Gifting Items

One way the player can interact with the TardisTARDIS is through giving it items it likes, especially items related to exploration/adventure. This is done by right clicking with an item on the TardisTARDIS exterior. If the TardisTARDIS likes the item, it will produce heart particles. A successful gift will also increase the Tardis’TARDIS’ loyalty to the player, which will be outlined in further detail here: TardisTARDIS Loyalty

Some items a TardisTARDIS may like include:

  • Filled Map
  • Ender Pearl
  • Ender Eye
  • Bells
  • Clocks
  • Compass
  • And more in the future (As of 1.5.4, datapacks will allow for adding other items)
Forced Entry

The player can also choose to forcibly enter a broken Tardis,TARDIS, by right clicking with a lead on a Horse, then right clicking with the lead onto the broken TardisTARDIS exterior. However, this will bring negative consequences to the Tardis’TARDIS’ mood and loyalty. The TardisTARDIS will likely hate the player and seek to not land accurately, or throw them out.
