Properties

1.14.4

The Alembic will require a number of items to distillate Mercury. It now has the following properties:

• A water level higher than 1
  • Water bucket adds 8 water levels
  • Water bottle or any potion will add 4 water levels
• At least 1 Cinnabar Dust present in the Alembic
  • Alembic can hold a maximum of 64 cinnabar
• Requires the user to hold a Glass bottle to obtain the Mercury Bottle
• Will constantly produce more mercury if there is water and cinnabar present in the Alembic and if the chunk containing the Alembic is loaded
• Will display smoke particles and use a different texture when distilling

Obtaining Mercury Bottles

To obtain one mercury bottle, the user will need to following:

1. Add water to the Alembic. This is achieved by right clicking with a Water Bucket or Water Bottle on the Alembic
2. Add Cinnabar Dust to the Alembic. This is achieved by right clicking with cinnabar on the Alembic. This will consume the entire item stack.
3. Once these requirements are met, the Alembic will start distilling. The player must wait 10 seconds before the Alembic produces enough Mercury for one bottle
   1. When enough mercury has been produced to fill one bottle, the Alembic will produce a bubbling noise. It will continue to distill mercury until either water or cinnabar runs out.
4. When the Alembic has produced enough mercury for one bottle, the player must hold a Glass Bottle and right click on the Alembic. This will use up the Glass Bottle and place a Mercury Bottle in the player's inventory.

Retrieving unused Cinnabar Dust/Stored Mercury Bottles

1. The player can retrieve any unused Cinnabar Dust by sneaking and right clicking on the Alembic with an empty hand
2. The player can also retrieve unused Cinnabar Dust by breaking the Alembic with a pickaxe. This will drop the remaining cinnabar along with any ready made mercury bottles.

1. Insert Cinnabar Dust into the Alembic by right clicking with the dust on the Alembic. 
   1. Each Cinnabar Dust yields one Mercury Bottle
• Right click on the Alembic to obtain a Mercury Bottle. 

Notes

• ThereIn the 1.12.2 versions, there is a 7 second cooldown for each use of the Alembic. Spamming right click will reset the cooldown timer.
• BreakingIn the 1.12.2 versions, breaking an Alembic with stored Cinnabar Dust, then placing it back down will delete the stored Cinnabar Dust. Therefore the user should keep notes of how much cinnabar dust is left if they wish to conserve their cinnabar dust supply

Trivia

• Obtaining Mercury Bottles from an Alembic was intended to require an empty bottle, however this has not been implemented.implemented in the 1.12.2 versions. This has been implemented in the 1.14.4 versions.
